As a leader, you know that if you keep doing what you've always done, you can expect to keep getting the same results. Nothing will change or improve in your organization until you take action.
So why don’t we take the action we need to take?
Here’s a truth that’s hard to admit: Sometimes, we wrap ourselves in the tangle of resistance.
Resistance seems to come from outside ourselves. We locate it in spouses, jobs, bosses, kids. “Peripheral opponents."
Resistance is not a peripheral opponent. Resistance rises from within. It is self-generated and self-perpetuated. Resistance is the enemy within. - Steven Pressfield
We use “resistance” as an excuse to avoid conflict and delay action. But let's face it, that's not going to get us anywhere. 🙅♂️
So, are you ready to unmask your resistance?
If you're feeling stuck, take a step back and ask yourself:
● Am I trying to please everyone? 😬
● Am I afraid of losing face? 😨
● Am I scared of the financial consequences? 🙇
● Am I avoiding the obvious decision here? 🤔
Once you identify the source of your resistance, you're already halfway to overcoming it. The next step? Taking action.
If you were a different person, looking at your organization from the outside,
what would be the obvious right action to take?
Here's your action plan for today:
Identify a situation where you feel "resistance."
Ask yourself the questions listed above.
Identify 1-3 action steps to take to get clarity.
Don't let resistance hold you back from taking action. Remember, every small step counts when it comes to growing mission impact.
To Your Success!
