3 Questions for Leadership

Every organization reaches a moment when our mind shifts from “What should we do next?” to “Who are we becoming?”

As you look ahead to the coming year, I invite you—and your board—to pause and consider three fundamental questions that shape every thriving mission:

1.  Who will we become? Describe the kind of organization must we grow into to meet the future we envision.

2.  Who is our customer? Every mission serves someone. Clarify who sits at the center of our work.

3.  Who will our customer (and Champion) become and help others to become? This is where mission multiplies.

Transformation is at the heart of our work. Growing mission impact is not accidental. It is deliberate. These questions are the roots of a strategic plan that works. A plan that emerges from a dedicated team aligned around what matters today, for us to reach the vision of tomorrow.

Take five minutes today to jot down your thoughts on each questions.

Share them with your board.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing a series of emails designed to help leadership:

  • Clarify what matters now

  • Strengthen leadership alignment

  • Focus on the heart of the mission

  • Build a strategy that grows impact in a sustainable way

As you begin 2026, think of this as a chance to breathe, reflect, and re‑center on the work that truly matters.

Here’s to focusing on what matters,
