The strength of our organizations lies beneath the surface—in the deep foundation we call our Roots, in our Tree of Mission Growth.

These deep structures – anchored by your Mission, Vision, and Values – they nourish everything above the surface. When rooted well, we hold steady through shifting seasons. These roots guide leadership and strategy with clarity, alignment, and purpose.

Question: When was the last time your team discussed your mission, vision and values among yourselves and with your staff and champions?

Mission is our North Star.

It’s more than a statement—it’s a compass that points us outward; toward the impact we seek in the world. A well-defined mission helps us say yes to what matters and no to what distracts. Especially in time of change, it keeps us focused, grounded and aligned.

Vision transforms latent energy into active energy.

Without clear goals and direction, even the most passionate teams can lose momentum. Vision gives shape to our aspirations. “Be stubborn about your vision but flexible with your plan,” observed John Maxwell. By setting bold, measurable goals we move our mission forward with intention.

Values are our internal strength.

They guide how we show up—for each other and for our community. When our values are aligned with the mission, we know where to aim, what to do, and why it matters. Team alignment fosters trust, accountability, and shared stewardship.

A leader’s role is to keep these roots grounded—to continually remind our teams why we do what we do. It ensures our strategies grow from fertile soil. When we stay rooted, we grow with purpose and collective impact.
