Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach. - Clarissa Pinkola Estes
Â
We live in a fractured world with conflicts rising on many levels. Many people live in heightened sense of fear, believing the problems are too great and hatred too embedded to overcome. Â They complain and withdraw. Their sense of fear and powerlessness grows.
Â
The past exists. We can see it as a tragedy or a possibility to achieve something positive. It takes courage to take action. It takes courage be the light in a dark world.
Â
Everything exposed to light become light. - Ephesians 5:13-14
Â
Each positive act you and I take lights a candle of hope in our dark world. When my light joins yours, and yours to others, hope emerges. Every generous act, kind word, or courageous deed inspires others. Evil, poverty and injustice do not have the final word when there is hope.
Â
Hope is real.
Â
Even the smallest act or gift can change someone’s life. We are here to make a difference. Your light in the community offers the vision of hope. When we share our light with others, darkness is driven away.
Â
Each situation did not happen by accident: we are here, among these people, in these circumstances, so that we can do the act or say the word - observed Rabbi Jonathon Sacks - that will heal one of the fractures of our world.
Be the light. Share your light. Heal our fractured world.
 Â
There is work to be done.
